Born Nov. 3, 1997
Lost at sea July 3, 2020.
Dylan was born to Nicole Alexandra Kinnaman and Russell Dean Furford at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Dylan attended both Ocosta and Elma schools, graduating from Ocosta High School in 2016.
Dylan was young but lived his life to the fullest. He was an adventurous soul who loved the outdoors. At roughly the age of 2 he caught his first rainbow trout with his Papa Mike Furford and from that moment forward he was a fishing fanatic. If there was a fish to catch, Dylan could be found on or near the water waiting for a bite. Dylan caught his first steelhead with his Papa Wally Caldwell and the two of them each wore a smile for weeks. Dylan also enjoyed hunting, in which he received his hunter’s safety education card at the age of 7. His dad, Abel Caldwell, was away working on opening day of deer season that year so along with his stepbrother and his little sis, Piper, Dylan’s mom packed everyone up and they went out to try and find a deer. Dylan knew his mom would take him anywhere hunting. They just went to Montana together in October of last year for Dylan to hunt and for Nicole to drive.
Dylan’s love of the outdoors came from not only his Papa Mike but from his Papa Wally and dad Abel. As a child most summers were spent camping in Washington, Idaho and Montana, spending time on family property both in Carlisle and Teanaway and floating the river. Dylan loved fishing so much, being as he had fishing in his blood from both sides of his family — the Kuzmaks, Furfords, and the Caldwells, that he became a commercial fisherman. Dylan fished a bit in the summers with his Papa Mike, Papa Wally, and father Russell during salmon, Dungeness crab, and shrimp before working on the F/V Pacific Dynasty.
Dylan loved Toyotas and his Papa Steve Kinnaman helped him start his collection. Dylan loved animals, his family, his friends, the water but most of all he loved hunting. He successfully harvested his first bull elk this last 2019 Archery season. He hunted for grouse, turkeys, geese, ducks, deer, elk, bear, cougar, bobcat, coyotes, etc. When these animals were in season he was out hunting. He relished in providing meat for his family. Dylan was helpful to his mom during blueberry season as to rid the bushes of unwanted birds.
Dylan is survived at the family home in Carlisle by his mother Nicole Kinnaman-Caldwell, dad Abel Caldwell and sister, Piper. Father Russell Furford and sister Raina and Ella Furford all of Lake Havasu City, California. Great-grandmothers, Beth McCann of Westport, Betty Caldwell of Ocosta, and Betty McDonald of Emmett, Idaho; grandparents, Steve and Cindy Kinnaman of Aberdeen, Mike and Jeannie Furford of Tokeland, Wally and Lorena Caldwell of Ocosta, and George and Pamelia Hill of Ocean Park. Uncles, Eric (Russa) Kinnaman of Wishkah, Ryan Furford and Eric Furford both of Tokeland, Otto (Amanda) Hill and Parker Hill, both of Ocean Park; aunts Teresa Dea of Coos Bay, Oregon, Nicole Keplinger (Jared) of Grayland, and Jacquie (Crandall) Ashby of Ocosta; niece Paisley Caldwell along with numerous cousins but his fav was Johnny Furford, who he loved very much. Dylan had many friends and considered Cole Rutzer, Connor Maben, Matthew Hart, Kalvyn Scott and Kaleb Orton to be his brothers.
Dylan and Connor were roommates when this tragic accident occurred. Mary Davis, Ashley Krigbaum, Skye Larson, Kailey Coyne, McKell Dungey and Kaylee Fletcher were ladies very close to his heart. Kevin Goodrich, Greg Rutzer and Steve, Crandall, Darren, and Derrick Ashby were all men he deeply respected and enjoyed spending time with and learning from. Teresa Hart was also someone very special to Dylan and our family appreciates all the support she gave him.
Dylan will be missed by many.
