Bill Shandera, 88, of Everett, Wash., went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Third of five sons of Adolf and Jessie Shandera of Hoquiam, Wash.

He graduated from Hoquiam High School and joined the U.S. Navy. After his military service he graduated from Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, Wash. There he met and married, Jean Clement the love of his life. They were married on June 25, 1950. They were married for 65 years until her passing in 2015.

Bill taught PE/Health for 30 years for the Everett School District. During that time he also taught drivers Ed., coached at South Junior High School, umpired for little league and raised their four children. He was a member of the Everett Elks, Legion Memorial Golf men’s club and church usher at Immaculate Conception and then St. Mary Magdalene church.

He is survived by his children Teri Wright, Bob (Doree) Shandera, Marie (Terry) Kohr and Bill Jr. (Cheryl); eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

With fond appreciation the family would like to thank the entire staff of Brookdale at Silverlake for their kind and compassionate care. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial Services will be at Evergreen Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
