Eileen Thelma Paulsen, age 101, a resident of Ocean Shores, died on June 29, 2022, at Greenlake Ocean Shores Assisted Living. Mrs. Paulsen was born on Oct. 29, 1920, in Powell River, BC, Canada to Andrew and Gertrude (Davenport) Foulds.
The family came to Hoquiam when Eileen was a child. She attended Hoquiam schools and graduated from Hoquiam High School.
On Sept. 20, 1942, she and Clarence Paulsen were married in Hoquiam.
The surviving family members include two sons, Robert Paulsen (Betty) of Ocean Shores and Larry Paulsen of Ocean Shores; a daughter, Peggy Tonan (John) of Port Townsend; grandchildren, Gabriel and Danny Tonan, Lorene (Mike) Roth; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Paulsen enjoyed going on many camping trips when the family was young, was the co-founder of the North Hoquiam Hyaks 4-H Club and the Ocean Shores Quilt Club and enjoyed sewing. She had worked as a seamstress, bookkeeper and salesclerk. She moved from Hoquiam to Ocean Shores in 1979.
An interment service for the family was held on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, at North Bay Park in Ocean Shores.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
