Ernest “Bud” Douglas Plath passed away surrounded by family at his home in Aberdeen, Washington on Feb. 20, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born on Sept. 19, 1939, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to parents Ernest Clarence Plath and Opal Jayne Hess (Richardson) Plath.
He married Mary Ann Hall on April 21, 1986 in Aberdeen, Washington.
After high school, Bud went on to earn a degree in civil engineering. He worked for, and eventually retired from, ITT Rayonier. After that, he and his wife, Ann, opened and operated Ann’s Designs Custom Embroidery for over a decade.
Bud enjoyed boating and bowling, but especially loved spending time with his family, which included vacations in Cabo San Lucas with his lovely wife, Ann. He was also skilled in woodworking and took delight in creating handmade gifts for his family, which they will forever cherish.
Bud is survived by his wife, Mary “Ann” (Hall) Plath; daughters, Valerie Plath McAfee of Aberdeen and Andrea Plath (John) Geelan of Montesano, stepdaughter, Tamra (Paul) Dragoo of Aberdeen; stepsons, Bryan Jamtaas of Spokane and Robert Jamtaas of Aberdeen; sister, Diane Plath Wegner of Bemidji, Minnesota; as well as five grandchildren: Stacy, Loren, Blake, Kylee, and Rylee, and one great-grandchild, Parker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Jayne Plath.
