Eva Mae Wakefield, 85 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on July 21, 1932, in Hoquiam, Wash. to Estel W. and Harriet (Forden) Gunter.
Eva attended the Hoquiam Lincoln Grade School and when she was eight years of age the family moved to the Wishkah Valley where she completed her formal schooling. While going to school she enjoyed playing basketball.
Eva Mae Gunter was married to Reuben Wakefield in Aberdeen, Wash.
She had mainly been a homemaker except for the time period of 1995 to 2005 when she worked at the Valley Cleaners.
Her travels had taken her to Alaska, Hawaii, the East Coast, the West Coast and to Mexico.
Her hobbies included crafts projects, Bingo, sewing, canning and was an excellent cook. She served on the Wishkah School Board for 17 years and the Wishkah Community Club for four years.
Eva Mae Wakefield is survived by her daughters, Sharon Kivi (Robert) and Barbara Hayes (Virgil); her sons, Carl Wakefield (Sherry), James Wakefield (Darlene), John Wakefield (Debbie) and Paul Wakefield; her daughter-in-law, Donna Wakefiled; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida Bell; a brother, Steven Gunter and other relatives. She also leaves behind her favorite cat, Baby.
Besides her husband, Reuben Wakefield, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wakefield and six brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel in Hoquiam.
