Frank L. Gage, age 66, a lifelong Hoquiam resident, died peacefully at home on Dec. 14, 2022 after losing his struggle with cancer. Frank was born on Aug. 8, 1956, the second-born child of Homer V. and Jeanette (Stusser) Gage . Frank attended Hoquiam schools. Being involved in football, wrestling, track and band were some of his favorite activities during his school years, and he graduated in 1974. Frank attended Grays Harbor College where he took a carpentry course that stood him well in the years to come.

In April 1976 Frank went to work for ITT Rayonier on the railroad section crew. He progressed to the Crane Creek sorting yard doing various jobs, but his favorite was “bucking” (cutting) logs to sort. He continued to work for Rayonier in a variety of capacities throughout the years. Then in 2004 he was hired as a timber production forester, a job he truly loved as it allowed him to be in the forest every day. Being outdoors was his happy place. Frank enjoyed gardening, landscaping with large rocks, working around the house, and cutting cords and cords of firewood to help those in need.

In November 1996 Frank made the most important decision of his life by symbolizing his dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism, thus starting a lifelong course of service as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Frank deeply loved his spiritual family. His ministry was very important to Frank, especially what he called his “stump to stump” witnessing that he would do when visiting his contractors. He took advantage of any opportunity to speak about Jehovah God and his promises for a better future for mankind.

In March 1978 he married his wife of 44 years Cheryl (Mounts) who survives at the family home. They had two children, Joshua (Heather) of Elma and Benjamin (Katie) of Copalis Crossing. They were blessed with 9 grandchildren: Genna, Braxton, Hallie, Addisyn, Coy, Colton, Peyton, Ryland and Micha) as well as two great-grandchildren: Zacharia and Sophia AnnMarie. Frank is also survived by a brother Vince (Angie) of Humptulips and a sister Julie (Gary) of Hoquiam. There are also numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents. Frank considered his family to be his greatest accomplishment, and he was proud of and loved them all dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023,at the Hoquiam Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. 1000 K St., Hoquiam, Washington.
