Fred A. Nebel, age 76, a longtime resident of Neilton, died on July 3, 2024, at his home in Neilton. Mr. Nebel was born on May 3, 1948, in Kalispell, Montana to David A. and Betty L. (Bronson) Nebel. He was raised in Brady, Montana and graduated from Brady High School in 1966.

After attending the University of Montana, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He retired as a combat engineer.

On August 23, 1975, he and Karen L. McCollum were married. The couple made their home in Montana until moving to Hoquiam in 1982, then to Neilton in 1998.

He loved storytelling, and the outdoors, including fishing, hiking and hunting.

Fred is survived by his wife, Karen of the family home in Neilton; two sons, Eric Nebel (Laura) of Everett, Washington and JD Nebel (Larissa) of Blaine, Washington; a daughter, Kim Nebel of Hoquiam; four grandchildren, Lily, Jameson, Danyka and Shane D.; a brother, Curt Nebel (Melody) of Enterprise, Oregon and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Iken of Sidney, Montana. A son, Shane Nebel and his parents, David A. and Betty L. (Bronson) Nebel died previously.

A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced later.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
