Freddy Charles “Fred” Lennox, 74, Elma resident and owner of Harbor Saw and Supply Inc. in Aberdeen, passed away suddenly on Wednesday Aug. 24, 2022, at Tacoma General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Fred was born Jan. 3, 1948, in Sedro Woolley, Washington to Freddy “Bert” Lennox and Phyllis Marie J. Mandahl. Fred was the youngest of three amazing brothers. Fred grew up in Sedro Woolley attending high school there and graduating as a Cub in 1966. He enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball during his time in school. As a standout athlete, Fred received letters of interest from both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Mets. However, his love for football led him to continue his athletic career on scholarship for Washington State University in 1967. (Go Cougs!) Later in 2018, Fred was inducted into Sedro Woolley High School’s Hall of Fame.

In 1969, Fred began working for brother Richard at Cascade Loggers Supply in Chehalis where he would remain for over 20 years. During his time at Cascade Loggers, Fred, along with Richard and friends, enjoyed spending most of their weekends playing slow pitch softball. All of his children recall “growing up” at the fields and have many wonderful memories from that time.

In 1970, Fred married Margaret Rhodes who added two children to their family, Dean and Danae. Shortly after, they had three children together, Josh, Jacob and Jared. They later divorced, and in 1988, he married Lori Selden. She added one more child to the family, Von. Fred loved all of his six children dearly and would have done anything for them.

In 1992, with the support of good friends and customers, Fred and Lori started Harbor Saw and Supply Inc. in Aberdeen, which employs three of his sons and to this day remains a strong and successful business, selling to customers all over the Northwest region.

Over the years, Fred’s pastimes included hunting, golfing and vacationing with his wife and good friends, spending time with family and watching his favorite sports teams.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Bert; his mother, Phyllis, and his daughter, Danae. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lori; his sons: Dean (Nancy), Josh, Jacob (Grace), Jared (Kelsey) and Von; his brothers Larry (Donnette) and Richard (Lynda); his grandchildren: Samantha (Bret), Logan, Luke, Lily, Lucy, Liam and Stella; his great-grandchild Avaya; several nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will mourn his loss.

Fred’s passion for sports was undeniable, his business rapport legendary, but his love for his family and being a devoted “Papa” was his greatest achievement. On most weekends, you could find him at a school or sporting event, concert or dance recital supporting his grandchildren. All who knew him would agree that he was a loyal, generous and caring human who put the well-being of others before himself.

A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Riverside Golf Club Pavilion located at 1451 NW Airport Road in Chehalis.
