Gary Franklin Waterbury Sr., longtime Aberdeen resident, passed away on March 11, 2017.

Gary Franklin Waterbury Sr., longtime Aberdeen resident, passed away on March 11, 2017. He was born on Feb. 17, 1937, to Frank and Fern (Reeder) Waterbury in White City, Kan., the first born with 11 siblings. He married Betty Standley on Nov. 17, 1958. They were married 48 years before she passed away in October 2006.

Gary retired from Hoquiam Plywood after 35 years.

He enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping from Canada to California with his family. After his retirement, he would attend model shows and enjoyed putting together military models and trains. He traveled a lot, visiting his 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He had been a member of the Aberdeen Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses since November 2008.

Gary is survived by his children Shirley Guiness and Peggy Gentry of Maine, Carol Frickel and Kathryn Redden of Aberdeen, Robert Waterbury of Olympia and Teresa Waterbury of Puyallup; two brothers Robin and Lonnie; four sister Joann, Roxi, Sara and Arleta (Dee-Dee); 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Richard Standley and Gary Jr.; two brothers Lester and Delbert Wayne; three sisters Janice, Janet and Marlyce and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Per Gary’s request, there will be no services held.
