Roy Eugene Morehead Jr., age 88, passed away on Nov. 1, 2016 at his home in Aberdeen, Wash. He was born to Elsie Evelyn (Egge) and Roy Eugene Morehead Sr. on Nov. 23, 1927 in Aberdeen. He attended Weatherwax High School, graduating in 1945. Gene served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 1945 to Oct. 1947 as a third class Petty Officer FCT. He earned his BS degree in finance in 1951 at College of Puget Sound. Gene worked with his dad for Morehead Motors for 17 years and worked as a loan officer, working his way up to regional manager at Capital Savings & Loan for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Grays Harbor Masonic Lodge #52, Aberdeen Elks Lodge #593, Aberdeen Lions Club, American Legion, 40 et. 8, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Aberdeen Vestery and was a Sunday School Superintendent and taught many children how to understand God.
Gene was an avid reader and a huge supporter of the Aberdeen Library. He enjoyed clam digging, gardening, barbequing, going to various casinos, and spending time with his loving family and friends. He was a great guy all the way around.
Gene is survived by his wife Naida Belle (Westby) Morehead of Aberdeen; son Roy Eugene Morehead III (Rebecca) of Republic, Wash.; daughters Catherine Ann (Seyhan) Ozturkmen of Beaverton, Ore., Carole Marie (Doug) Stensgard of Hoquiam and Connie Louise Stullick of Wishkah; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years and the mother of his children, Mary Louise (Glidden) Morehead.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at 423 Carefree Circle in Aberdeen.
