It is with great sorrow that we announce that our beloved mother, sister, and grandma “Gee”, Gina Irene Peterson-Vessey has passed away.

It is with great sorrow that we announce that our beloved mother, sister, and grandma “Gee” Gina Irene Peterson-Vessey has passed away. She passed at St. Peters Hospital from Legionnaires Pneumonia surrounded by family on May 21st, 2024, at the age of 63.

Gina was born on February 7th, 1961 in Aberdeen to Arnold and Artha Peterson. She was raised in Montesano and lived there until her Junior year of high school. She moved to Mason Lake her senior year and graduated from Shelton High School with the class of 1979.

Shortly after graduation Gina moved back to Montesano and worked for her brother-in-law, Jack Mempa, as a waitresses /bartender for the Bee-Hive restaurant. Gina was married for 5 years to Steven Schlott, of Montesano, Washington before separating. They raised three children Sonya (43), Mark (40) and Dave (39). Later she remarried to Steve Vessey of Montesano, Washington. She gained 3 step-children Trina, Danika, and Chad Vessey, they were known as the Brady Bunch. The couple divorced years later.

Gina worked for Lucky Eagle Casino, after several years, she was then hired by Olympia Orthopedics where she retired in 2023 after 10 years of dedicated service.

Gina grew up spending her summers on Mason Lake becoming a phenomenal water skier. She was a dedicated sports fan and animal lover. Gina had a passion for the outdoors. Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Gina created many great family memories of holidays, sports, camping, and water skiing. If the sun was out, Gina was at the lake!

Gina is survived by her sisters Joyce Mempa of Montesano; Joanne Peterson of Washington; and Gail (Steve) Capatch of Puyallup, Washington; brother Brian (Kellie) Peterson of McCleary, Washington; daughter Sonya Fry of Montesano; sons Mark (Ricki) Schlott of Aberdeen, Washington; and David Schlott of Ocean Shores, Washington; 5 grandchildren, Mason and Addisyn Fry; Parker, Noah, and Liam Schlott; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mom and dad.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on July 21st, 2024 from 12-3 p.m. at Moose Lodge in Montesano Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to PAWS of Grays Harbor. Cremation arrangements were made by Harrison Mortuary in Aberdeen.
