Glen W. Clothier, Ph.D., age 81, passed away surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home Sunday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2017.

Glen W. Clothier, Ph.D., age 81, passed away surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home Sunday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2017. He was born in Pittsburg, Kan. Sept. 24,1936, the only son of Charles Glen Clothier and LaVon E. Clothier.

Glen grew up in Redmond, Ore. and graduated from Redmond High School in 1954. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served for 4 years – 2 years in Bermuda and then at Edwards Air Force base in California where he spent many hours as a guard at the Atlas Rocket testing site.

He went to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. where he earned his Bachelor Degree in 1963. While a student at Pittsburg, he met and married Carol his wife of 56 years in 1961. He continued his education, earning his Masters Degree at Oregon State University Corvallis, Ore. in 1968 and his Ph.D. in 1970.

Glen brought his wife and 3 month old daughter, Dawn, to Aberdeen and began his teaching career at Grays Harbor Community college in January 1971. He loved his teaching experience; teaching Anatomy and Physiology for nursing students, General Biology and other science classes as well as weekend birding trips.

His passion for maintaining cars with Amsoil was well known to faculty, students, and friends.

After retiring in 1999, there were several trips to Arizona to get out of the Harbor winter weather.

Glen is survived by his wife Carol of their home and daughter Dawn Soran, son-in-law Don Soran, and three grandchildren: Zach Soran, Connor Soran, and Maddie Soran of Olympia.

He will be sorely missed and remembered by many. There will be no funeral service as was his wish.
