Glenda F. Hads, 73, longtime resident of McCleary, Wash., passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 2, 2016, surrounded by her family. Glenda was born on June 9, 1943, in Superior, Wyo., to George and Erma McComb. After moving several times, the majority of Glenda’s youth was spent in Sand Springs, Okla.
In 1965, she met and married the love of her life Terrance Hads (D) who was serving in the Air Force. Glenda and Terry settled in McCleary in 1971 where they raised their three children.
Glenda was an active participant in several activities when it came to her children; including Girl Scouts, Blue Jays, PTA and volunteering in the classroom. Glenda then became a teacher’s aide which led to her becoming the LAP director where she loved working with the students, most notably with her “M&M Math”. One of her favorite achievements was starting the McCleary Drill Team. After she retired in 2002, Glenda and Terry traveled and spent time with extended family until Terry’s death in 2005.
Glenda most enjoyed playing games with her friends Joanne, Sue and Diana. She loved reading, shopping, gardening and traveling with Pete to Hawaii and on cruises to Mexico.
Glenda is survived by her three children, Thirza Hads-Fortner (Michael Fortner) of Elma, Wash., Terrance Hads II (Deanna DeMoss-Hads) of McCleary, Wash. and Rebecca Geisler (Gart Geisler) of Lacey, Wash.; a sister Galatha (David) House of Sand Springs, Okla.; her sister-in-law Gladys (Donnie) Sellers of Aberdeen, Wash.; her companion of 10 years Pete Coic; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and an abundant number of very close friends.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband if 40 years Terrance Hads (2005) and her brothers Gordon McComb (2005) and Garland McComb (2014) of Oklahoma.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in McCleary on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at 12 p.m. A viewing will be held for immediate family and very close friends at 11 a.m. Please join us for a reception and Celebration of Life immediately following the services at the McCleary School Gymnasium.
