Gordon M. “Gordy” Grube, 80, of Elma, passed away on Dec. 7, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Gordon M. “Gordy” Grube, 80, of Elma, passed away on Dec. 7, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Gordy was born on Sept. 14, 1942, in Kirkland, Washington to Carl and Pauline (Sanford) Grube. The family later moved to Grays Harbor where Gordy lived for the rest of his life.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1965 aboard the USS Ranger and USS Midway. He later went to work for ITT Rayonier in Hoquiam and retired from the company. Gordy also volunteered as an EMT for the Central Park and Elma fire departments.

In his earlier years, Gordy enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son, Darrin. He also enjoyed working on and restoring classic Mustangs. He was an avid golfer his whole life and continued to golf up until his illness.

Gordy was known for his easy-going nature and big heart. He loved to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed watching Mariners and Seahawks games. He also loved his fur babies, Beanie and Skippy.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Lorna, who he married on Feb. 27, 1982; daughter Kris (Roger) Keller; stepson, Rob (Connie) Hanny; stepdaughter, Karla (Andy) Fleming; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; his mother, Pauline; son and best friend, Darrin Grube; brothers, Carl Jr., and Kenneth Grube; and a great-grandson, Jace Barr-Balestra.

A potluck celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2023, at the Hoquiam VFW, 407 – 7th, Hoquiam, Washington.

Cremation arrangements are pending at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
