Gordon Stanley Skye passed away on Oct. 7, 2022. He was born on June 29, 1937, to Walter and Minnie Skye in Hoquiam, Washington. He was raised in Hoquiam and Central Park, Washington and attended Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, graduating in 1955. Gordon joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Lawton in Seattle, Washington. He worked as a log truck driver for Craig Carter in Montesano, Washington, and for Rainer Mill in Aberdeen. Stanley retired in 1995/96.
On Aug. 5, 1993, Gordon married Carolyn Marie Dobson at the Heart of Reno Chapel in Reno, Nevada. They were married for 29 years.
Gordon was a part of the Elks Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW. He enjoyed bowling and motorcycles.
Gordon is survived by his wife Carolyn at their home in McCleary; sons Ken (Karalee) and Larry Skye; daughter Kerri Taylor; stepdaughter DeAnna (Junior) York; stepson Leon (Marlene) Bialkoski; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Skye.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Montesano Moose.
