Haonge “Kay” Lee, longtime resident of Aberdeen, passed on July 3, 2023 at the age of 95.
Kay was born on Oct. 6, 1927 to Eng See and Chin See Tuai in Toppenish, Washington. The family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters moved to Bremerton, Washington. There she met her husband, Bock Fon “Danny” Lee and married in 1948. They moved to Aberdeen, where they raised three children. She worked at the Aberdeen Daily World, was long time secretary/administrator for Boy Scouts of America and was part owner of the Ho Yon Cafe.
Kay was devoted to her family and friends. Her talents were expressed through her cooking for friend and family gatherings, collecting favorite recipes, and doing arts and crafts and outings with the “Friday girls” and was an active member of Calvary Lutheran church. She enjoyed being active in YMCA senior exercise classes, hiking with friends and clam digging.
Kay is survived by her brother, Kim Tuai, sister, Lom Nee March, and three children, Connie (Gary), Terry (Kathy), and Tim. Kay leaves behind five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Kay’s wishes, the family held a graveside service at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery in Seattle, Washington. She is at peace laying next to her husband.
