Harvey Gordon Floch died peacefully on July 24, 2022, at his home in Montesano, Washington.
Harvey was born in Olympia, Washington on April 15, 1923, to Shirley and Othelia Floch. He grew up in the Steamboat Island Road area of Olympia, graduating from Olympia High School in 1941.
He worked in the Seattle-Tacoma shipyard before joining the Navy as an aviation machinist. He served his country from Aug. 25, 1942, to Dec. 30, 1945, during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge as well as a number of medals.
On June 23, 1951, he married Dorthy Camus. They moved to Montesano where they raised six boys. Harvey worked as a tree faller for 30 plus years, cutting timber in the forests of Western Washington.
Harvey was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed clam digging, crabbing, shrimping, camping and hiking with family and friends.
Harvey spent the final nine years of his life with his loving companion Lois Crawford.
Harvey is survived by his sister Shirley-Anne Westman of Tumwater and sons Mark Floch of Oakville, Tom (Jamie) Floch of -Aberdeen and Jeff Floch of Olympia. Harvey has 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Shirley and Othelia Floch, sister Elenor Williams, wife Dorthy Floch, sons Mathew Floch, James Floch and Gregory Floch and grandson Jacob Floch.
A celebration of Harvey’s life will be on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Brady Grange, located at 466 Old Monte Brady Road Montesano, Washington.
