Harvey Kleiven 1927-2022

Harvey was born in Hoquiam, Washington Oct. 28, 1927, to Lisa Laxen and Samuel Kleiven. His birth was assisted by a midwife in their home located on Sumner Avenue. His mother saw to it that he and his siblings: Helen, Elsie and Ed were always in church. At age 11, during a summer camp at Covenant Beach near Tacoma, Washington, he responded to an alter call that set the stage for the trajectory of his life in ministry.

Following graduation from Hoquiam High he attended NW Bible College, where he obtained a degree in ministry and met the love of his life, Margrette “Marge” Hansen. They married Dec. 19, 1947. Harvey became an ordained minister and together they raised a family and pioneered churches in Central Park, Houghton and Juanita Washington. Harvey also pastored and served at churches in Salem, Oregon and Auburn, Washington. He worked as a drywall taper and sold real estate. But his passion was studying the Bible and winning souls for Christ. He led weekly Bible studies at the assisted living home where they lived for the past seven years.

Harvey was a faithful husband to his wife of 74 years. He was a hard-working provider for his family. He left this earth for his heavenly home Oct. 6, 2022. He was in his home at Brookdale Arbor Place where he and his wife were known as “Pastor & 1st Lady.” His family was at his side. His wife Marge passed on March 1 of this year.

He is survived by his four children: Karen, Loren, Marla and Jael; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service was held Oct. 12, 2022. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ballard, Washington.
