Frederick J. Holmes, age 77, of Long Beach, Washington passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

Fred was born on May 17, 1946, in Aberdeen, Washington. He was the son of the late George and Myrtle Holmes and stepson of the late Leland Mann. Fred was the youngest of four boys and graduated in 1964 from North River High School. Two years after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from March 1966 to October 1969. Serving his country was one of his proudest accomplishments and he considered it a true honor to serve his Nation. After returning home from Vietnam, he began his career as Engineer for Manson Construction, where he remained until retirement.

He was the loving husband of Nancy (Markham) Holmes for 52 years and the beloved father of three: Richard Carol, and Todd Holmes. In addition, he was cherished by his two granddaughters, Clarissa Wright, and Isabella Holmes.

Fred had a true passion for life. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He was truly a special person and beloved by all that knew him.

All family and friends are all welcome to attend his celebration of life on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Ilwaco Heritage Museum, 115 Lake St SE, Ilwaco, WA.
