Irene Grace Thorne, 93, longtime Elma resident, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, Wash.
Irene was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in Chasely, N.D. to Charles George and Martha (Rockner) Seaberg. She grew up in Tuttle, N.D. and graduated from Tuttle High School.
She married Horace “Wayne” Thorne and together they moved to Elma in 1956. He later died on July 11, 1988.
Irene was a housewife and sold Avon on the side. She enjoyed dancing on the weekends at the grange and traveling with her sisters, going to Reno or Laughlin, Nev. every year.
Irene is survived by her son Jerry (June) Thorne of Elma; sisters Joyce Seaberg and Karen Williams both of Elma; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers: Ralph and Loyle Seaberg and a sister, Gladys Ochsner.
There will be a celebration of her life on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Noon in the Elma Church of God. A private burial will have taken place at Masonic Cemetery, Elma, Wash.
