Ivor Wallace Frankhouser, age 89, born Sept. 1, 1928, in Port Townsend, Wash., died March 3, 2018, at Alpine Way retirement home in Shelton, Wash.
He is survived by his daughter Debby Bartlett of San Diego, Calif.; his son Louis Frankhouser of Hoodsport, Wash.; his daughter Michelle Kirst of Montesano, Wash.; his son Jeff Frankhouser of Hoquiam, Wash.; and his son Steve Frankhouser of Ritzville, Wash. He is preceded in death by his wife Merle Frankhouser (Harris) of Port Angeles, Wash..; his wife Jeanne Frankhouser (Pearce) of Hoquiam; and his daughter Kelly Kimball of Glen Allen, Alaska. Ivor had 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Ivor joined the U.S. Army in October 1946 and served honorably until January 1956. This included more than three years in the Korean Conflict earning the Korean Service Medal with five bronze stars while attached to the 76th Engineering Construction Battalion. His specialty was heavy equipment operator.
Ivor lived with his children and 1st wife Jeanne in Hoquiam until 1973 where he worked for various logging outfits, including Blagen’s log yard in Hoquiam.
He lived in Clallam and Mason County from 1974 with his 2nd wife Merle. The couple enjoyed winters in the southern U.S. in their motor home until her passing in July 2001. He worked for the Clallam County PUD for 15 years prior to retirement.
Ivor enjoyed flying and earned his private pilot’s license At Bowerman Field in Hoquiam.
No funeral is scheduled. His ashes will be spread per his request by family members.
