Jack Lester Raub, 68, lifetime Harborite passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024. Jack was born on March 29, 1956 to Jack Charles “Chuck” Raub and Lorena (Tuffree) Koski, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Growing up, Jack enjoyed time on his grandparents’ farm, where he developed his love and deep connection to the outdoors. Along the Humptulips River he loved fishing, hunting and berry picking and time with his family. Jack later graduated from JM Weatherwax High School, class of 1974. After high school he started working at Weyerhaeuser and then spent most of his career at Harbor Machine and Fabricating. In his retirement he explored his creativity through metal artwork.

Jack was connected to the Makah Tribal Community and was pursuing enrollment and appreciated learning the roots of the Raub family. Jack enjoyed being in nature, whether he was hiking, berry and mushroom picking, fishing, or hunting and he found peace in the forest of the Pacific Northwest. He also enjoyed listening to music and making his own on the guitar. He loved animals, especially his companions: dog, Juneau and cat, Georgie. He was thrilled to welcome his daughter Emma Jean (Raub) Benson in 1995 and enjoyed spending time at the zoo, the lake, the beach and the outdoors with Emma. Jack built a salmon smoker and enjoyed smoking salmon and sharing with his neighbors, friends, and family. He loved to socialize and could spend hours on the phone or time visiting with family, friends, co-workers, and customers. His famous line, “I’ll shut up now” was always said with a chuckle. Jack was a wonderful storyteller, a nostalgic man who could light up the room with his company and laughter. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Emma ( Andrew “AJ”) Benson of Ocean Shores, Washington; mother, Lorena (Mikko) Koski of Hoquiam, Washington; sisters: Kim (Demi Solorio) DuFrey of Morro Bay, California; and Tiina (Eric) Huckabay of Shoreline, Washington; nieces: Tiphany (Jason) Lopez-Steinbrecher and Kaija Huckabay; great-nephews: Skylar and Z; furbabies: Juneau and Georgie; as well as extended family and a great number of friends who loved and supported Jack.

Jack is preceded in death by his father, Chuck Raub; brother, Doug Raub; sister-in-law, Linda Graves; and Jack’s two furbabies: Anya and Mira.

We would like to offer our thanks and gratitude to all of Jack’s family and friends who helped support him and our family throughout his illness.
