Jackie Lee Russell was called home to the Lord, on March 23, 2018. Jackie was born May 15, 1954, in South Bend, Wash., to Jack and Wilma Orkney. She grew up in Whittier, Calif., and graduated from California High School in 1972. She returned to Washington and married Wayne Downey on Dec. 29, 1976. Together they raised their three sons in Raymond. During these years, she was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crafts, drawing and was an avid reader.
On Dec. 26, 2004, she married David Lee Russell and relocated back to California until David retired in 2014. They moved back to Washington to enjoy retirement and to be close to family. Jackie was a wonderful daughter, and amazing Mom. She loved her three sons, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Jackie was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks before her passing. She spent 15 days in ICU and fought hard to have more time with her family. When the Lord called her home, she was surrounded by her family and lots of love. We know she is in heaven, free from pain, laughing and smiling with her loved ones, and sitting beside her precious companion Mariah puppy. AS U WISH Mom!
Jackie is survived by her husband, David, parents Jack and Wilma Orkney, three sons, Jason (Amber) Downey, Nathan (Jennifer) Downey, Toby (Star) Downey, and six grandchildren Olivia, Roland, Ava, Oliver, Paislee, and Hazeline.
There will be a celebration of her life on April 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 103 Adams St, South Bend.
