James “Jim” Allen Jump passed away on, March 11, 2018. Born Nov. 21, 1964, Jim was 53 years old at the time of his passing. He was a 1983 graduate of Hoquiam High School. After graduation, he attended Grays Harbor College then the University of Washington, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked as an engineer for five years in Kirkland, but eventually found his calling in the restaurant business. He owned and operated the Casa Mia in Puyallup for the past 15 years. Although he lived in Puyallup, he preferred the small town living of the Harbor and one day wished to settle in Forks.
Jim was a great craftsman and whiz in mathematics, but his true passion was fishing. He explored the Humptulips, Hoh, Queets, and Quinault Rivers, spending his days fishing for salmon and steelhead. Aside from fishing, he enjoyed science, gardening, chess, puzzles, running and spending time at his family’s cabin on Lake Quinault.
He was married to Cindy Sack for several years. They lived together at their home in Edgewood. On their days off, they enjoyed visiting Lake Quinault and camping in Cottonwood Campground on the Hoh River.
Jim is one of seven children to Roger and Yvonne Jump. His father Roger died in 2009, but his mother Yvonne lives proudly in Hoquiam. He has three sisters, Theresa, Melinda (Dan) and Jennifer (Ben). His brothers are Steve (Bonnie), David (Angela), and Matt (Andrea). Jim was blessed with a large family and had numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim will always be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous person.
Jim’s mother Yvonne and the entire Jump family would like to thank all of those who have shared kind words of sympathy due to Jim’s passing.
Please make any donations in Jim’s memory to PAWS of Grays Harbor, P.O. Box 451, Aberdeen, WA 98520 or www.pawsgh.org.
