Janet Lou Davis, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023 in Salem, Oregon. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Lee, and is survived by her six sons: Mark and his wife Laurie; Gregory; Paul; Todd and his wife Linda; Lynn and his wife Jennifer; and Scot and his wife Ann, and 10 grandchildren.
Janet was born in the family home on Canyon Court in Aberdeen, where she lived with her father, George Christensen, mother Dorothy and sister Dorothy Ann. She was a 1951 graduate of Weatherwax High School.
Following her wedding, Janet and Lee moved to Portland, Oregon. Janet received a degree in Corrections from Western Oregon State University and subsequently worked for the Oregon State Department of Corrections.
Janet was an avid and skilled tennis player. Her Salem Tennis and Swim Club tennis team won the 1988 Senior Women’s USTA Team Championships. She traveled nationally and internationally playing in amateur tennis tournaments and continued playing her entire life, most frequently at Salem Tennis and Swim Club or Deep Canyon Tennis Center in Palm Desert, California . However, her greatest joy was raising her six sons and passing on to them the values of family, love of country and a strong work ethic.
Janet will be missed by all those who had the privilege to be in her life.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Willamette National Cemetery, outside of Portland, Oregon.
