Jason Albert Peters, a retired fireman and resident of Raymond, Wash., passed away on June 20, 2018, at the age of 43.
He was born at GH Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., on Nov. 10, 1974, to Kathy and Michael Schimelpfenig. He spent his early years moving between Grays Harbor and Idaho with his parents. When he was 11 years old, he moved to San Diego to live with his Aunt and Uncle (Rebecca and Charles Cordell Peters), who later adopted him. As a young adult, he returned to the Harbor area where he married Coral West and raised his son Austin, while working as a fireman at RFD. Later on he married Sheila Wilson and moved to Northern California for several years. In 2015 Jason and Sheila returned to the Raymond area to be near family.
Jason was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He spent many hours teaching Austin about life in the Northwest, as well as the art of fishing and hunting. Caleb, Jared and Tonya have fond memories of their big brother and the campouts and crab feeds that he provided. He shared adventures outdoors with the love of his life — his grandson, Sawyer.
Jason is survived by his ex-wife Sheila; his parents; his son, Austin Peters; grandson Sawyer Peters; as well as brothers Michael Geesen (Idaho) and David Schimelpfenig (Aberdeen), Caleb Peters (Las Vegas) and Jared Peters (Las Vegas); sister, Tonya Peters (Utah); also his Aunt Chris Hendrix (Los Angeles), Uncle Bruce Schimelpfenig, Aunt Kim, Uncle Orlando Schimelpfenig (Elma) and Uncle Quinton Schimelpfenig; as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by Kathy Schimelpfenig.
The memorial service will be in Neilton, Wash. on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the Quinault Valley Chapel, 31 Bum Rd, Neilton, WA 98566.
All family and friends are invited to attend the potluck following the services.
