Our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and grandson, Jeffrey Alan Grun, passed peacefully away on Nov. 26, 2018, at his home in Meridian, Idaho. Jeff was 38 years old. He was born on Sept. 28, 1980, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Greg and Lavonne (Schmidt) Grun.

Jeff attended Hoquiam schools and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1999. During his school years he played basketball, baseball and football, and spent many summers at the family cabin at Lake Nahwatzel. During his youth he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. After high school he attended Washington State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2004. At WSU, he was a member and officer of Delta Sigma Phi.

After graduation, Jeff was employed by numerous banks in Washington, Idaho, and Sitka, Alaska. While in Sitka he helped his family with his mother’s charter fishing business. In Sitka, Jeff met the love of his life, Norma Jean Johnson. Together, they prospered and shared a special love.

In 2010, Jeff and Norma moved to Meridian, Idaho where she unexpectedly passed away in 2015. From that sad time on, Jeff faced struggles and health issues, but he bravely continued on until the end of his life, with the support of family and friends to help ease his struggles. At the time of his passing, he was living with his mother at her Meridian home where he received the best love and care. Jeff was an avid reader and loved watching all sports.

He was a gentle, kind soul, and his presence in our lives will never be forgotten.

On the final weekend of Jeff’s life he travelled to Pullman in a motorhome with his family to see his beloved WSU Cougs play in one more Apple Cup. Jeff had a wonderful and unforgettable time with his grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. He got to spend one more fun-filled weekend with his best buddy and cousin, Kris. Jeffrey peacefully passed after his return to Idaho. As Jeffrey will always say, “Go Cougs!”
