Karen “Karuna” Lynn Johnson, Hoquiam resident and retired registered nurse, passed away in her Hoquiam residence on Dec. 29, 2021, at the age of 65.
Karuna was born on Oct. 3, 1956, in Washington, D.C. to parents Porter and Jo (Graham) Johnson. She was born into a military family and made homes in many areas around the United States. Karuna graduated high school in Gainesville, Florida and went on to attend the University of Florida and later graduating from Grays Harbor College with a degree in nursing.
After attending the University of Florida, Karuna biked her way across the United States until she made it to Grays Harbor. While obtaining her degree with Grays Harbor College, she worked as a massage therapist at Healing Hands in Aberdeen, Washington. After graduation, Karuna began her career in home health.
Karuna met her husband, Timothy Ricketts, and they later married in 2004. He lives at the family home.
In 2014 she started working with Assured Home Health and retired in 2016.
Karuna was member of the YMCA. She enjoyed being an artist at heart and working in the garden.
Karuna is survived by her husband, Timothy Ricketts; a brother, Kevin Johnson of Florida, and sisters: Sherry Endress of Georgia and Lori Gebler of Germany.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
