Karma “Kay” Carroll went home to Jesus at the age 78 on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020. Kay was born to Marion Blackwood and Ardesie Reynolds Warner on July 26, 1942, in Santa Maria, California. Kay was the loving wife of 48 years to Jerry Carroll. They met in Portland, Oregon, on May 12, 1971, when Jerry asked Kay to dance to the song “Teddy Bear.” Kay studied early childhood education at Napa Valley College and social services at Grays Harbor Community College and worked as an in-home care provider in Grays Harbor County.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Carol Blackwood, brother, Ron Hampl, and daughter Cynthia Carroll. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Carroll, and children, Teresa Carroll, Timothy Carroll, Sherri Carroll, Sean Carroll, Victoria Carroll and Veronica Carroll, and her sisters Cricket Morrill, Linda Herrick, Judy Craddock and Anita Jaramillo. Kay’s many grandchildren are Alvin Norman, Nicole and Kayla Melton, Christina, Jessie and Steven Carroll, Hope and Page Carroll, David and Anthony and Christopher Carroll, Sean Jr., Maryola and Lillian Carroll, Brandon and Nicolas George. Kay also has many, many great-grandchildren.
Kay was an avid reader and loved mystery novels. She read thousands of books in her lifetime. She also loved flowers and gardening. Her favorite flower is the yellow rose. She was a loving mother and taught us that we can “do anything we put our minds to.” She was a selfless person, and found great joy in helping others in need. Many close friends of her children, to this day, do not hesitate to stop by the house, because they know they will be greeted with open arms and an excellent meal. Kay also loved to cook. No one ever left her home hungry. Kay was loved by many and the memory of her will not be forgotten.
