Kenneth E. Widener, known to many as Ken, Kenny or Cubby, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Wash. He was a lifelong East County resident, born on April 27, 1957, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Elizabeth and Kenneth Widener.
Ken attended school in Elma, Wash. and started his career at the Satsop Nuclear plant in the late 70’s and then proceeded to work in construction for the next 30 years, majority of the time with Lakeside Industries.
Ken married Janette Hensler on Dec. 15, 1979, and they raised three sons and one daughter. Janette survives at the family home.
Ken loved to travel to Eastern Washington and pan for gold, made yearly trips to Elk camp up the Wynochee, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved the Green Bay Packers.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Janette Widener; children, Kourtney (Alex) Kluh, Josh (Danica Johnson) Widener, and Jesse Widener; grandchildren, Rusty, Riley and Bailey; siblings, Edward Widener, John Widener and Debra Bland.
He is predeceased by his parents and son Kasey Widener in 1997.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Sept. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Friends Landing in Montesano.
