Laura Lee MacFadyen, 71, of Aberdeen resident and beloved mother passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her home in Aberdeen, Washington.
Laura was born on May 27, 1951, in Aberdeen to William Harry and Sylvia Ann (Batchelor) MacFadyen. She grew up in Hoquiam and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1970. She worked later get a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University.
Laura married Robert Raymond Hatch on Jan. 29, 1972 in Hoquiam, Washington. They later divorced. Laura then married Paul J. Knaus on July 3, 1991 in Aberdeen, Washington. They later divorced.
She moved to Eben Junction, Michigan in 1998, where she worked as a ASL interpreter and was on the Michigan Commission of Aging (Hospice). She also worked for SCI Industrial Maintenance, where she served the Superior Central School District. She returned to Aberdeen three years ago.
As a young woman, she played the violin on the worship team at Rhema Fellowship. She also served on the Billy Graham Crusade Ministry team. Most recently, she attended Alive Church of the Nazarene where her son Chris is Minister. She liked crafting and was a rockhound.
Laura is survived by three sons: Robert J. Hatch of Aberdeen, Washington, Christopher R. Hatch of Hoquiam, Washington and Jerome D. Hatch of Hoquiam, Washington; a daughter, Paula J. Knaus of Seattle, Washington; two brothers: Keith C. “Casey” MacFadyen of Iron Mt, Michigan and Bruce MacFadyen of Aberdeen, Washington; two sisters: Wilma “Ann” MacFadyen and Neala Madrid, both of South Bend, Washington; a granddaughter, Octavia “Ava” Katarina Skye Knaus of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by a brother Ian MacFadyen.
There will be a celebration of Laura’s life on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Alive Church of the Nazarene, 101 S. ‘H’ St., Aberdeen, WA.
A private family time for scattering of ashes will take place later.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
