Longtime Ocosta resident, Laurence Allen Sleasman Sr. (Lon), age 82, formerly of Pacific Beach, Washington, passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020.
Lon was born on Feb. 1, 1938, to Dan and Florence Sleasman in Tacoma, Washington. He was a graduate of Moclips High School and attended Grays Harbor College where he met the love of his life Barbara Colson.
Lon and Barb were married on Oct. 9, 1965. They had three children: Lisa, Allen and Leslie.
Lon was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, talented artist and writer. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, telling stories and sharing in his love for the outdoors. Lon was a beloved Aberdeen Police Sergeant and was a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard for many years. Most importantly he was a loving brother, father, uncle and grandfather.
Lon is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; his brother, James (Jim); and his sister, Anetta Lee. He is survived by his brother Jack Sleasman; his three children and their spouses: Lisa (Don Hurd), Allen (Heidi), and Leslie (Terry Torgerson), along with his nine grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob and Natalie Hurd; Savannah Sleasman; Cameron, Brianna and Ashlyn Devereaux; and Kaitlyn and Tyrus Torgerson.
