Lewis “Lewie” Kloempken, 77, a resident of Ocean Shores, Washington, passed away at home on Saturday, June 8, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Lewie was born on April 2, 1947, to Raymond J. Kloempken and Geneva C. Kloempken (Russell) in Aberdeen, Washington. After graduating from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School in 1965, he married Marilyn Taylor in 1968. Lewie and Marilyn went on to have two children, Karmen, and Tanya. They later divorced.
Lewie lived his entire lifetime in Grays Harbor County and worked as a Millwright for ITT Rainer and Weyerhaeuser until his retirement in 2007.
In 2022, Lewie married Cheryl Ann Kloempken (Nazer) in Aberdeen, Washington. Lewie and Cheryl have resided in Ocean Shores with their two fun-loving Bernedoodles, Sam and Maggie, that brought them tremendous joy.
Lewie is preceded in death by both parents, sister Pat Patton and brother Ron Kloempken. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Ocean Shores, Washington; daughter, Karmen and husband Gary Gallinger of Montesano, Washington; daughter, Tanya and husband David Proctor of Bellevue, Washington; stepdaughter, Jennifer McCall and future son-in-law Dan Logan of Olalla, Washington; stepson, KC Rockey of Spanaway, Washington; brother Robert (Bob) of Hoquiam, Washington; brother Chuck and wife Karla of Hoquiam, Washington; sister Mary and husband Jim Banks of Redmond, Washington; brother Raymond (Junior) and wife Sally of Lakewood, Washington; five grandchildren, Kyra Gallinger (25), Kobe Gallinger (24), Myah Gallinger (21), Jackson Proctor (21) and Zachary Proctor (18) and two stepgrandchildren, Cierra Audet (26) and Patrick Rockey (22). He is also survived by a loving extended family, and numerous friends that he truly adored.
Lewie was an excellent athlete as a youth, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and clam digging, working on engines, and restoring cars in his garage, hanging out with his numerous dogs and watching his grandchildren play sports and grow into young adults.
As per Lewie’s wishes, a family memorial service will be held, followed by a Celebration of Life later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington and Providence Regional Cancer System, Aberdeen Clinic, both organizations Lewie felt strongly about for all the great care they provided him over the past several years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Coleman Mortuary, in Hoquiam, Washington and Cremation services have been entrusted to Fern Hill in Aberdeen, Washington.
