Louise E. Hudack passed away Dec. 5, 2016, in Olympia, Wash. She was born Aug. 30, 1934, to William and Esther (Painter) Darkow in Akron, Ohio. The family moved to Cosmopolis, Wash. when Louise was young. In 1953, she graduated from Weatherwax High School. On April 27, 1979, Louise married Robert Hudack of Hoquiam; he passed away in 2010. She was a resident of Elma, Wash. for more than 50 years.
Louise worked for the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services for 25 years. In 1990, she received the Washington State Employee of the Year award.
Louise was an avid gardener, seamstress, and enjoyed attending bazaars. She had a great love for family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to visits, and drives with her late husband, Bob, as they shared a love for wild animals, berry picking and the great outdoors together. She was very active in her church (Faith Lutheran in Elma), community and volunteering, and was honored as Citizen of the Year.
Louise is survived by sons, Mike Collins and Ron Collins; daughters, Doris Swalander, Sherri Unruh, and Kathy Lagerquist; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Darkow. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bob; and twin sister, Lois Warber.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Cosmopolis, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon at Faith Lutheran Church, 1296 Monte-Elma Road, Elma, WA 98541. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Children’s Christmas Fund.
