Margaret Elizabeth Jane Tillman, age 75, a longtime resident of the Harbor, died on Nov. 25, 2018, at her home in Hoquiam. Mrs. Tillman was born on Dec. 5, 1942, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Myron F. and Margaret Inez (Johnson) Jessup. She attended Aberdeen schools and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1961.
In her younger years, she worked with her step-father at Forest Hill Gitchel Auto Wreckers. Later she had worked as a certified nurse’s aide for nursing homes on the Harbor.
Margaret was an avid horse rider and raised horses as well as St. Bernard’s. She had taken part in the Centennial Ride, traveling from Ocean Shores to Olympia by way of horse and covered wagon. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with family, gardening in her green house, going berry picking with Bob on the quad, then making jam for friends and relatives. In her spare time, she loved to shop, do crafts such as cross stitch, embroidery, creating photo albums and quilting.
She recently was able to go zip-lining and cross it off of her bucket list.
Margaret is remembered by family as a loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert of the family home; two daughters, Rose Ann (Craig) Gallington of Montesano and Sallie Jo (Dan) Keith of Hoquiam; and three sons, Ben (Tammie) Gitchel of Aberdeen, Carl Gitchel of Spanaway and William (Julie) Gitchel of LaGrange, Kentucky. A sister, Rose Annette Jessup died at birth.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam. A private urn committal at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
