Mark Douglas Swanson passed away unexpectedly at Banner University Hospital on Dec. 31, 2019. Mark was born and raised in Minnesota. After graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served nine years active duty, which included a tour of Vietnam. After the Marine Corps, Mark settled with his family in California. He began his career with the California Department of Corrections, where he was actively involved with the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, holding leadership positions. Mark retired from the Department of Corrections and the Army National Guard after 25 years of service.

Mark and his wife, Patti, retired to Ocean Shores, Washington. Retirement kept Mark busy helping family, friends and neighbors. Mark became actively involved with the Ocean Shores Elks Lodge and ran the local youth fishing derby for five years. Mark and his wife, Patti, had recently moved to Mesa, Arizona, full-time.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Patricia, son, Timothy, his wife, Liz and grandsons, Ryan, William and Christopher. He is also survived by his mother, Marlys, brothers, Andy, Bill, Tim and his sister, Janice. He was preceded in death by his son and father.
