Mary Eleanor Beegle, died on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Seattle, Wash. to George Paul and Mabel W. (Aldridge).
She was married to Keith M. Beegle at her parent’s home on Queen Ann Hill in Seattle on March 25, 1945.
Eleanor and Keith and their three daughters moved to the Grays Harbor area in 1962. From the mid 1960’s through the mid 1970’s they owned and operated the Carpet House in Aberdeen. Career opportunities moved Keith and Eleanor to Olympia in the mid to late 1970’s where they lived for nearly 30 years. After applying her talents to a few temporary positions, Eleanor found a fulfilling career as an employee for the State of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services, retiring at the age of 71 in 1999. After Eleanor and Keith had both retired from the respective careers in Olympia, they returned to the East Hoquiam area in 2003.
She coveted her role as matriarch within the family she and Keith had created, and each member of the family was a source of great pride and inspiration to her. She relished the family’s gatherings, the successes of her children, and witnessing countless activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In recent years, Eleanor was active in the local community as a volunteer for Harbor Home Health & Hospice, Grays Harbor Community Hospital and Hoquiam’s Central Elementary School. She enjoyed participating in Bible study groups and activities with her church family at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam.
