Mary Elizabeth Olesen, 91 years of age and a lifetime Hoquiam, Wash., area resident, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on Dec. 10, 1925, to Henry Charles and Nellie L. (Larson) Jordan and was very proud to have been born in Hoquiam, a city that she truly loved.
Following her graduation from the Hoquiam High School, she worked in the high school library for three years.
Mary Elizabeth Jordan was married to Walter Neil Olesen on May 29, 1946, at her parent’s home and both of them then made Hoquiam their home.
She worked at the Aberdeen Public Library for some 27 years. She enjoyed reading, visiting with her many friends, P.E.O. and the Library Group. She really loved being with her family, her church and her cats that she loved to spoil.
Mary was a longtime member of the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Aberdeen where she participated in their numerous services and gatherings.
Mary is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Terrie Olesen of Olympia; grandchildren, Cody (Tara) Hircock of Camarillo, Calif. and Kelly Matlock of Irving, Texas and great-grandsons, Caleb Hircock, Benjamin Hircock and Carson Hircock, other family members, her church family and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Bexton in 2014, her husband, Walt in 2010, her sister, Ruth McGhee in 1995; her brothers, Patrick in 1927, Bill Jordan in 1994 and Harry Jordan in 1998, as well as a brother-in-law, Charles Olesen who died during World War II.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 400 East 1st Street in Aberdeen with Father Evan Clendenin officiating. A time of fellowship will follow in the church Great Hall.
Private vault inurnment will be held at a later date in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
