Maxine June Cogburn, 79, Aberdeen resident and former in home caregiver, passed away on Dec. 27, 2019, at her home in Aberdeen, Washington.

Maxine June Cogburn, 79, Aberdeen resident and former in-home caregiver, passed away on Dec. 27, 2019, at her home in Aberdeen, Washington.

Maxine was born on April 1, 1940, in Northwood, North Dakota, to Edwin R. and Lillian (Braaten) Warne. She grew up on a farm in Larimore, North Dakota, and moved to Aberdeen in 1956. She worked at a shake mill and painted houses with the family.

On March 17, 1965, Maxine married Doice Cogburn in Aberdeen, Washington. He later passed away in 2015.

Maxine worked as an in-home caregiver for many years following her time as a homemaker caring for her family.

She loved baking and playing cards with her family, especially pinochle. She was a member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, and the Montesano Women of the Moose. She also liked going to the casino with her sister Betty. You would always see them together like two peas in a pod.

Maxine is survived by son James (Poppy) Cogburn of Aberdeen and a grandson she raised as a son, Tyler Warne of Aberdeen; two daughters, Jennalee (Larry) Cook of Hoquiam and Kimberly McCormick of Wishkah; two brothers, Ronald Warne of Elma and Terry Brorby of Satsop; two sisters, Betty Schlaht of Aberdeen and Penny Rae Johnson of Elma; eight grandchildren, Lyndi, Sally, Sam, Damon, Macy, Molly, Jacob and Alyssa; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Levi, Danerys, Kaylee, Brayden and Brynlee. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Warne, a brother, Eugene Warne, last week and two sisters, Charlotte Walberg and Marlene Willig, and a stepfather, Victor Brorby.

There will be a time of visitation and viewing for Maxine on Friday, Jan. 3, from 1-8 p.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington. A funeral service will take place Saturday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. in Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, Washington. Private graveside services will take place later at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington.
