Michael Lawrence Blumberg, 55, a longtime Hoquiam area resident, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at his Hoquiam home. He was born on Sept. 7, 1962, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Richard A. and Deanna P. (Bear) Blumberg.
Mike was raised and attended school in Hoquiam and while he was growing up he enjoyed playing all types of sports. He also helped around the family home doing chores and anything else his mom asked him to do.
Following his high school graduation he worked at the Grays Harbor Paper in Hoquiam. He later owned and operated his own sports shop named, “Card Shack”.
On Sept. 11, 2006, at the Jantzen Beach Shopping Center in the Portland, Ore. area he met Tera L. Lewis, who became his life partner and they eventually moved back to the present Hoquiam family home.
Mike volunteered as a coach of Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball and he then went on to being an umpire. His travels took him to wherever his family goals and sports took the couple. His hobbies included “Arena Rock” and loving to organize all types of things. He fondly remembered when he participated in the Babe Ruth World Series. He will long be remembered for being honest, thoughtfulness, being dedicated and humble.
His survivors include his life partner of the family home in Hoquiam as well as uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, and Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam with Tandy Charley officiating. Private interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
