Michael Lunceford, 56, of Montesano, Washington, passed away on Aug. 26, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney failure.
Born on Nov. 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Douglas (Hungry) Lunceford and Carol Lunceford (Pullar), Mike graduated from Montesano High School in 1986. He dedicated a significant part of his life to serving the community as a Firefighter/EMT for the City of Hoquiam and a volunteer Firefighter for Montesano.
Mike is survived by his sister Connie (Matt) Stowers of Elma; his nephews Braden (Katherine) Stowers of Montesano, Alex Stowers of Elma; great-nieces, Dallas and Noel Stowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hungry and Carol.
Among his most cherished memories are those shared with his designated sister Darci (Craig) Teel of Pasco, Washington, and his designated brother Dean Bohren (Sarah Miller) of Montesano, Washington.
Some of his greatest joy came from the time spent with his nieces Rachel (Dan) Teel, who are the parents of daughters Lily and Grace Teel, and Denise (Blaine) Wren, who have a daughter Tatum and a son Kash of Kennewick, Washington, as well as, his nephews Zach, Tyler, and Kurt Fry of Montesano, Washington.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching all different sporting events. He was actively involved in volunteering for veterans and Relay for Life, he was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and participated in many different community events like Loggers Playday. He was often found enjoying the local bars or restaurants and went on many adventures to Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Minnesota, and Eastern Washington.
A dedicated public servant, Mike spent over 20 years as a Firefighter and also owned and operated Lunceford Forest Services LLC with his business partner Dean. Known to many as Uncle Mikey, he had a heart of gold and was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and the entire community.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Montesano VFW Memorial Park located at 128 WA-107, Montesano WA 98563. In true Mikey style we will be celebrating with a potluck, some food and drinks will be provided! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montesano VFW or the Montesano Volunteer Fire Department.
