Born Dec. 10, 1960, to Richard “Dick” and Lila McGovern in South Bend, Wash.; he was 56. Michael died unexpectedly at his home on June 10, 2017, following a recent stay at the hospital for respiratory complications.
Mike was a lifelong South Bend resident and graduated from South Bend High School in 1979. He was a commercial fisherman for Muggs Petit for many years and also worked construction. He is survived by his wife Gail (Stigall) of 34 years, son Tanner, sisters Kathy Spoor (Sonny Mark), Kelly McCutchen (Mike), brothers-in-law Elroy Thompson (Joannie), Donny Thompson, Michael Stigall (Sindy), Hank Stigall, father-in-law Wales Stigall, and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a devoted, loving husband and father. He is especially remembered for his easy-going nature, kind heart and selfless way of caring for many family members and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law Elaine Stigall, and nephew Christopher Thompson.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
