Michael “Mike” Irwin Carver, 58, a long-standing resident of Grays Harbor, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen, Washington.
Mike was born on Sept. 24, 1964, in Aberdeen, Washington to parents, Richard Carver and Barbara (Strunk) Carver. He was raised in the Aberdeen and Satsop areas, graduating from JM Weatherwax High School in 1983. Mike was an accomplished tuba player. He also attended Grays Harbor College. He married Catherine Luther in 1994. The couple moved to Denver, Colorado, and Mike began a career with the Denver Post as a maintenance supervisor. They had two children: a son, Justin, and daughter, Amanda. The couple later divorced and Mike moved back to Montesano, Washington. Mike met Donna Clements and they married on May 31, 2023, at his parent’s home in Satsop, Washington.
Mike attended Harbor City Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. A great fisherman, he absolutely loved being out in his boat on the Chehalis and Satsop rivers, or in Eastern Washington. His love for fishing began with his father, and he found no greater enjoyment than being out on the waters. He was a wonderful cook, and he enjoyed using his smoker, and smoking fish for family and friends. He also enjoyed exploring nature with his wife. They would often go for a drive basking in the glory of Mother Nature. Fishing, clamming and camping were his favorite pastimes. Mike was extraordinarily intelligent, being able to fix or take apart and learn machines in a matter of minutes. Most importantly, he was devoted to his family and friends. He was a tremendously loving and kind man, who would help anyone he could. He took pleasure in just being with those he cared about, and occasionally getting a deluxe cheeseburger at “Gene’s Stop and Go.” Mike will be sorely missed and forever loved.
Mike is survived by his wife, Donna, who resides in the family home; son Justin Carver who currently serves in the United States Navy; daughter Amanda Carver, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; parents: Richard and Barbara Carver, of Satsop, Washington; brother John Carver of Montesano, Washington; two grandchildren; and Mike’s two fur babies, dogs, Max and Molly; as well as many other family and friends whom Mike cared for.
Private family services will be held at a later date. If you wish to leave a memory or note of condolence for the family, please visit www.fernhillfuneral.com. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
