Morgan Christine Zora died early in the morning on Sept. 28, 2023 in the arms of her twin sister, MacKenzie, after succumbing to breast cancer at the age of only 35. Despite the aggressiveness of the disease and the narrowing window of survival, Morgan bravely pursued every treatment option, no matter the cost, to extend her time with her three-year-old daughter Eliza, her partner Trevor and her loving family. Although her time with us was short, her impact on our lives is immeasurable.

On Oct. 28, 1987, Morgan (or Morgie/Momo to those she loved) entered this world much like she left it, with MacKenzie close by her side. Premature and incubated, they fought through the odds and forever changed the lives of their parents, Craig and Dana Zora. A short 18 months later, Morgan was an older sister to her new brother Zach, a relationship that would shape him for life. Growing up in Aberdeen, Washington, she was an old soul, stubborn, intelligent, empathetic, confident, funny, and, always, a loving sister, daughter, and friend. Her love was felt far and wide by those lucky enough to have known her.

After graduating from the University of Washington in 2010, she started a successful career in Seattle in Human Resources. She followed with a Master’s from Georgetown University in 2019. While she made it all look easy, her life wasn’t defined by school or work. It was defined by her love for life and those around her. We had fun, always. She loved music, especially a good festival. She loved nights out spent dancing and nights in, playing with the dogs (especially Molly) and reading. As long as she was laughing and with those she loved, she was happy. She cherished her friends and took every opportunity to learn from those she loved. She was a fierce advocate for what is just and right and was influenced by strong women in her life, like her Aunt Heidi and Aunt Kim.

Above all, Morgan loved her family. She loved her partner and love of her life, Trevor; her little brother Zach, someone she always looked out for; her parents, the ones that brought her into and raised her in this beautiful world; her brother-in-law, Tyler, her sister’s match in life; her sister- in-law, Ansley, the one she trusted to look after her brother; and, always, she loved her twin sister MacKenzie and her daughter Eliza.

Only a lucky few understand the bond between twins. It’s something that cannot be explained. Just know MacKenzie and Morgan gave each other strength and were each other’s best friends. More are fortunate to understand the bond between mom and daughter. Morgan truly enjoyed being a mom and Eliza has so many of the traits that we loved about Morgan. Eliza, steadfast, confident, and intelligent like her mom, will grow up knowing everything there is to know about her. Morgie will always be with us and we will always be with her.

Morgan will be remembered by family and friends on her birthday, Oct. 28, starting at 1 p.m. at Stoup Brewing, 1158 Broadway, Seattle. All who loved and supported Morgan in life are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Morgan’s firm support for women, donations in her name can be made to the Lilith Clinic in Seattle.
