Nancy Carolyn Neisinger, 83, Aberdeen resident since 1967 and former music teacher for the Aberdeen School District, passed away on Nov. 28, 2020 at her home in Aberdeen.
Nancy was born on Aug. 15, 1937, in Comox, British Columbia, Canada to Ross and Beulah (Stuart) Shields. In 1945, her family moved to Bellingham where she graduated summa cum laude from both Bellingham High School in 1955 and then from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education in 1959.
It was while at Western, that she married Robert Neisinger at the Birchwood Presbyterian Church in Bellingham on June 15, 1958. He resides at the family home.
In 1959, they moved to Raymond where she taught choir at Raymond High School. After six years in Raymond and two years in Anacortes, they moved to Aberdeen where Nancy taught music in seven elementary schools for the next 27 years.
She was a member of Chapter BC of the P.E.O., Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, on the Board of Directors of the Aberdeen Salvation Army, Director of the Salvation Army Kettle Clash, member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, and sang in various Presbyterian churches for 69 years from 1951 until February 2020 when corona virus ended public activities.
She enjoyed 44 years of Oregon Shakespeare Festivals (having attended over 385 performances), 25 years of Seattle opera, and traveled with her husband to over 65 countries after retirement where she was often volunteered to teach action songs to school children.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert “Bob” Neisinger of Aberdeen; son, Chris (Debbie) Neisinger of Danville, California; two daughters: Sandra (Ron) Erak of Olympia, Washington and Patty (Dan) Sundstrom of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren: Dustin, Cordelia, Rosalind, Garrett, Gregory, Taylor and Colton; one great-grandchild, Charlie, and one expected in January, next.
Nancy was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
There will be a celebration of life for Nancy post corona, when all can attend. The family suggests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen and the Salvation Army.
