Nancy Marie Barnett

Nancy Marie Barnett, 72, a resident of Montesano, passed away with her devoted husband by her side on Dec. 15, 2024, at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Nancy Marie Barnett, 72, a resident of Montesano, passed away with her devoted husband by her side on Dec. 15, 2024, at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Nancy was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was born January of 1952, to her loving parents, Glenn and Ruby Braaten in Aberdeen, Washington; the first born of six children. Nancy grew up in South Aberdeen attending Steven’s Elementary School, Hopkins Jr. High and Aberdeen Weatherwax High School.

In the Spring of 1970, Nancy was set up on a blind date with Gary Lee Barnett and they were married in June of 1972, at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Nancy and Gary were married 52 years and they have two beautiful children together and were blessed with 3 wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Nancy loved her family fiercely and enjoyed many family gatherings including the holidays. Family was everything to her and she cherished her time with them.

In 1985, Nancy gave her heart to Jesus and over the next 39 years she devoted her life to Him. Nancy was heavily involved with her church and was passionate about loving people as Jesus would love them. Nancy loved music and had an angelic voice and was to able use that talent for the Lord. She was part of the worship team at her church for many years. Nancy and her husband helped to establish a Celebrate Recovery Group at Harbor City Church to help people to overcome Hurts, Habits and Hang ups. Nancy loved crocheting and blessed many people with her blankets, hats, scarves, and gloves. Her heart was compassionate and full of grace. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and wanted others to know His amazing love for them. Her church family was a huge part of her life, and she touched many lives over the years and leaves a Legacy of Love.

Nancy had worked for Coastal Community Action as a caregiver, was a bookkeeper for New Beginnings Church and worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Aberdeen Daily World for 17 years.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary Barnett; son, Michael Barnett; daughter, Tiffany (Brian) Burkett; 3 grandchildren, Nadia (Brendan) King, Aliyah Burkett, and Jacob Burkett; her siblings: Glenna (Mike) Rand, Raymond Braaten, Brian (Jean) Braaten, and Brenda (Alex) Whipple; many nieces and nephews and lots of extended family that she was close to. Nancy is preceded by her parents Glenn and Ruby Braaten and her sister, Denise Ketzenberg.

A memorial service will be held at Harbor City Church, 1700 Cherry Street, Aberdeen, Washington on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. Please bring your favorite potluck dish. Donations can be made in honor of Nancy to Harbor City Church for Celebrate Recovery.
