Phyllis Joan (Sutton) Erickson passed away on Jan. 8, 2024, in her home in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born in San Diego, California on Feb. 16, 1939, to Edith and George Sutton. She lived in the LA area until she was 8, and the family moved to Washington. She attended schools in Aberdeen. She married John G. Erickson on July 7, 1956, in Hoquiam. They had four daughters and raised them all in Hoquiam. They were married for 66 years.
Phyllis was a homemaker and liked her home always clean and decorated for every season. She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, crocheting, camping, and loved being surrounded by family, especially during the holidays. Her home was always full of love and kindness. She taught the girls homemaking skills and showed them how to serve others. Phyllis and John enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and taking their grandchildren with them.
Phyllis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions while serving other members. She and John “Jerry” served a 2-year church service mission directing and building a lodge and bunkhouses at Zions Camp in Belfair, Washington.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Steve) Ensslin, Kathryn Erickson, Keri (Joe) Strickland; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Kay; and grandson, Chris.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2735 Riverview Drive, Aberdeen.
