Ray Summers passed away in Olympia, surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 9, 2016. He was born in Raymond, Wash. — at that time there was no road between Raymond and Tokeland, so when it was time for Ray to come home, Julius Vining (June’s dad), brought him and his mother across the bay on his boat “The Swallow”.
Ray was raised and went to school in Tokeland, then to school in Ocosta, graduating from there in 1953. Ray and June moved to Seattle, where he owned a service station for 15 years and then decided to move back to the beach and was a commercial crab fisherman.
Ray and June went on many road trips to the mid west and east coast with his brothers and their spouses.
Ray was especially proud of his wife, June; his children Roger and Kathi; his grandchildren Scott, Jennifer and Katie and his great-grandchildren Kylie, Tayler, Aidan, Jaycie, Rayden and loved them unconditionally.
In his retirement he loved woodworking and playing pinochle at the senior center.
Ray and June were married 59 years and married in the Presbyterian Church in Grayland on June 29, 1957.
Ray was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will missed very much.
At his request, there will be no services.
