Raymond Hegel, 88, passed away March 18, 2018, in Olympia, Wash. He was born to John and Clementine (Scheetz) Hegel on Jan. 25, 1930, in Almont, N.D.
Ray served in the Army as a Medic at Heartbreak Ridge during the Korean War and was there when the Peace Treaty was signed. He retired from the Corp of Engineers in 1993 at 63 years old.
In 1954, he married Perpetua Doll who resides at home. They both loved to dance and have been dancing the “polka” since they were 14 to 16 years old. They were also very active daily walkers.
Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Perpetua Hegel of Olympia; a daughter Debbie (Ivars) Matisons, a son, Kevin Sr. (Katy Albrecht) Hegel, and a daughter, Trish (Julian) Wilde; four grandchildren: Kevin Jr., Ali, Kyle (Trista), and Masit; and one great-grandchild: Finnley.
A private family service will be held.
