Richard Gregory Moore, 88, longtime Harbor resident and former Instrument Technician for ITT Rayonier, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at his home in Central Park, Washington surrounded by family.
Richard was born on Nov. 23, 1934 in Montesano, Washington to Albert and Lerae Moore. He graduated from Montesano High School in 1952. He then continued his education at Grays Harbor College for one year.
On July 7, 1954, Richard married Carlene Randall in Montesano. Together, they had three children, Maureen, Shelly and Rick. Carlene passed away on Dec. 27, 2015.
Richard went to work for ITT Rayonier in the Lab in 1954 and later became an Instrument Technician for the next 37 years. Following the mills closure, he went to work for Quiggs for a short period of time before retiring.
Richard enjoyed fishing, yard work and fixing things around the house and for others. He was a bee keeper and really enjoyed tinkering on old computers and writing code for programs he developed himself. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Seattle Kraken in person and on television.
Richard is survived by his daughters Maureen (Brad) Fuhrer of Aberdeen, Washington, Shelly (Dan) Davidson of Olympia, Washington, and son Rick (Cindy) Moore of Bend, Oregon; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
On behalf of Richard’s request, he was laid to rest with his favorite eight-inch adjustable wrench in his back pocket.
The family would like to thank Jim Raykowski and others for their frequent visits with Richard at the family home. It was very much appreciated.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Carlene and his half-brother Albert Moore.
There was a private Committal Service at the Wynoochee Valley Cemetery in Montesano, Washington.
